The Genovese Crime Family began in Little Italy under the leadership of Ignazio "the Wolf" Saietta. Saietta would marry a relative of Giuseppe "Peter the Clutch Hand" Morello, who along with his own family members had a gang of Italians based out of Harlem, this would unify the two gangs in to what would eventually become the Genovese Crime Family. The gang would later spread throughout New York City. The early era of the Genovese Crime Family has seen it dubbed the "Morello Crime Family" as four prominent members of the Harlem faction where the Morello brothers, who were in-laws with Ignazio Saietta. The family would be renamed the Luciano Crime Family after Charlie "Lucky" Luciano. The family would later be renamed the Genovese Crime Family after Vito "Don Vito" Genovese, this name has stuck ever since. After Genovese's death Philip "Benny Squint" Lombardo ran the family through front bosses such as Frank "Funzi" Tieri. Anthony "Fat Tony" Salerno would take over after Lombardo, however there has been much debate as to whether or not Salerno was an actual boss or the front boss for Vincent "the Chin" Gigante. Either way, after Salerno was imprisoned for life in the famous Commission case, the Oddfather became the Godfather of the Genovese Crime Family. The Genovese Family is now under the leadership of Daniel "Dannny the Lion" Leonetti, who continues to run the "Ivy League of Organized Crime" smoothly although he is currently incarcerated.
